Most beautiful lady, A thousand thanks for your kind letter and the proposed gift of the "hanks". It was the fault of my idle servant for giving me a torn one. But it was lucky for me that your sweetness was there! I am so glad you like my play. It is a great success. Why do you not come to Marienbad? Yours Charles H. Hawtrey". Includes hand-addressed envelope to "Mrs Hall Walker, Goethe Haus, Marienbad". Hawtrey (1858-1923) was an English actor/manager, specialising in comedy and associated with productions of the works of the likes of Wilde and Somerset Maugham. Very Good. Item #017799
