Cologne: Johann Gymnich, 1602. 12mo. Orig Vellum. pp. 14, 25 plates, 376, (40- index). Original full blind-stamped vellum (some damage to spine & marks on boards). All edges gilt and tooled with pattern. Two clasps, vellum & brass. Gallonio (1556-1605) was a priest living in Rome who wrote on the tortures of martyrs, first published in Italian then translated into Latin, dedicated to Pope Clement VIII. The 25 plates show graphic illustrations of the torture and martydom of saints. A very good copy of this rare Latin edition. Very Good. Item #017332
