Bumby (1808-1840) arrived in the Hokianga in 1839 to head the Wesleyan Mission there. While returning from a visit to the Raglan/Kawhia region in the next year, he was drowned in the Hauraki Gulf when the canoe he was in with 12 others overturned. A very good copy of a scarce account which includes extracts from Bumby's travel diaries. Very Good. Item #017931
