Contains two panoramic engravings of the Turkish fleet at anchor at Buyukdera, and engravings of other naval engagements. NZ content includes article on the goldfields, including engravings of "Conference of Lieutenant-Governor Wynyard and Native Chiefs in Coromandel Harbour", and an engraving of gold-diggers at the sluice "The New Zealand Gold Field - Discovery of Gold near the Source of the Kapanga Stream, about Forty Miles from Auckland". The article covers the gold discovery the issue around land ownership, and mentions Charles Heaphy finding "gold to be spread over the eastern slopes of the great range.." An article on racing in the Wairarapa with an engraving "Racing on the plain of the Wairarapa, near Wellington, New Zealand" showing a racing meeting in the rough landscape, with excited Maori in the foreground. An article on New Zealand announces the discovery of gold in the Coromandel region, and an up-date on Auckland and its activities, including a classic engraving of a view of Auckland from the new wharf, with Partington's Mill in the far background.
