Contains engraving of on an aerial steam carriage, information on shipwrecks, royal events, etc. NZ content includes an article announcing the death on 10 September of Governor William Hobson in Auckland after a short illness, at age 49. It describes his funeral and burial on the 13th, the part played by Maori in the ceremonies, and gives a short account of Hobson's life. Is accompanied by an engraving of 'View of Port Wellington, New Zealand". Long article on New Zealand, describing the geography, wildlife, Maori and their villages, with a note at the end indicating that the next issue will continue with information on the colony. Includes engraving of a "Provision House" showing a heavily carved pataka on poles, and one of "Epemi, a Chief of New Zealand", showing the Wellington area Chief in cloak with moko.
