Old label on front board which could be removed. Pero (Pedro) Mexia (1497-1551) was a writer, humanist and historian spent his life in Seville. His major work, Silva de varia lección (A Miscellany of Several Lessons 1540) was a popular compilation of humanist writings, and his influence can be seen in Shakespeare and Montaigne. The Dialogos were first published in 1547, and contain writings on medicine and the natural world. Very nice copy of an important work. Very Good. Item #017301
