'The New Testament' Imprint reads 'London, Christopher Barker 1599', one leaf repaired at base with little damage to text, 441-554 leaves, 98 leaves, Book of Psalms: Collected into English Meeter, by Thomas Sternehold, John Hopkins & others (includes some woodcuts of music in text). Top edge trimmed with minor loss to chapter headings. Original panelled boards neatly re-cased, with early papered title piece 'The Breeches Bible 1599'. A rare copy of the 'Breeches Bible' (a variation of the Geneva Bible), where Genesis Chapter III Verse 7 reads: "Then the eies of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed figge tree leaves together, and made themselves breeches." In the King James Version of 1611, 'breeches' was changed to 'aprons'. Very Good. Item #017519
