No Binding. Single side, 12.5 x 12 cm. Signed slip dating from the 1860s, "I have the honor to be, Sir, Your most obedient Servant. Alfred Domett. Land Claims Commissioner" Domett (1811-1887) arrived in NZ in 1842, a friend of Browning ("Waring") and having already published a couple of books of poetry. He held a number of posts in the evolving Government, including Commissioner of Lands in Nelson in the 1856, before becoming Premier in 1862-63, and continuing tin the post of Lands Commissioner. He retired and returned to England in 1871, continuing his literary pursuits, including writing the epic poem "Ranolf and Amohia" Very Good. Item #019013
