Carlisle (1802-1864) had a substantial career in British politics, and in 1850 was serving in the Russell and Palmerston administrations. He writes to a Mr Williams, stating that he had pleasure in presenting a petition from Huddersfield. Carlisle was associated with York and his predecessors built Castle Howard. 11.5 x 18 cm.
