Title deed

1913. No Binding. Vellum title deed, conveying a block of land in the Borough of Newmarket to the Newmarket Council. The vendors were Arthur Shiphead and Joseph Osborne Owen, and the Mayor of Newmarket was David Teed (after whom the current Teed St was named). The document includes a map of the block bounded by Khyber Pass, Portland St, Market St and Osborne St. The land was passed up to the Council for10 shillings (about $300 in todays money). Folding to 11.5 x 34 cm. This is a rare document for this important Auckland suburb, and seems a rather curious purchase for10 shillings! Very Good. Item #019815
