Auckland: Bartlett & Co. No Binding. Large photograph of a Wanganui coal mine c. 1860s, from the studio of Bartlett & Co, Auckland. The image shows a coal wagon being pulled on a track by horses, tents and buildings, cleared bush, in all a striking image of a colonial coal mining settlement at work. The title and photographer's name are hand-written on the mount under the photograph. The image is 29 x 24.5 cm mounted on card 57 x 45 cm. A particularly scarce and fine, detailed photograph of historical interest. Very Good. Item #019891
