Dunedin: Burton Bros. No Binding. B&W silver gelatin photograph of a large group of Maori, including men, women, children and babes in arms, in European dress, including military attire. The group is posed before a large whare at Waipahihi, on the eastern shores of Lake Taupo, now a suburb of Taupo. c.1880s. On the reverse is an early photograph of Port Chalmers, Dunedin, showing ships in the docks, with a church and memorial in the foreground. Mounted on original card with some foxing, little affects the image. Card 24 x 27 cm, image 20.5 x 15.5 cm. Very Good. Item #019991
