Henry King Photographer, 1893. No Binding. A collection of 6 glass slides, 8 x 8 cm, with hand-written captions and H King on each one, showing a number of Fijian scenes. These include a native house with breadfruit trees, native meeting with hundreds of people gathered outside a large dwelling, the Ba river with local people with canoes, outrigger canoe with fishermen and family, a group of four local people with breadfruit, mission church Savage Island, Rev. W G Lawes. These date from about 1893, when Henry King exhibited a number of photographs taken from negatives taken by the Rev G Lawes of Pacific people and scenes. Some of the edge tapes have worn, thus separating the front glass from back. A rare collection of Fijian views. Fair. Item #019999
