Hand-written letter
1946. No Binding. double-sided single sheet, 17.5 x 20.5 cm, headed Australian Paper Manufacturers Ltd, Melbourne & Sydney. Undated but likely 1946 (also the year of an Australian Election that Robert Menzies took part in). Hand-written letter: " My Dear F.M.B. Yours of the 15th August to hand. Re our election here, I passed on your suggestion to Bob Menzies who has taken appropriate action. The Davis Cup seats (two) as you already know will be allotted to you and Sophie and I have arranged through the Assn. to allot you two rooms at Menzies Hotel.....We have now got our D.C. Tennis Squad together and they are starting to train and practice in earnest. Quist is still a bit doubtful in one knee; but I feel that he will be all right in a few weeks. Best wishes and looking forward to seeing you both. Yrs sincerely, Norman Brookes." Brookes (1879-1968) was Australia's first notable tennis player and the first overseas player to win the men's singles title at Wimbledon in 1907, and again in 1914. Very Good. Item #020016
